IB Learner Profile Student Reflection
Our school practices a different learner profile each month. We send home these papers with the students to encourage the discourse with families about the learner profile. It is a fun way for students to connect with what they are learning about in school with their life at home. Our (AWESOME) IB coordinator reads the responses that students bring in on the morning announcements (which the kids love).

Fall Addition & Subtraction Practice
Who doesn't love a good pumpkin?! Fall is (in my opinion) the BEST season of all! Our first graders last year were lacking in some of the simple math fact skills needed to quickly and accurately work through word problems. This year we decided to start working on those skills early so students could get a jump start! We use the Everyday Math curriculum and the counting on method works wonders for the kids. They love to do the grab and count up method. I am thinking of posting a video on that on my Instagram to show how we do this. Click HERE to check it out on TpT!

Students will LOVE these fun, interactive sticky notes that are linked to Fiction Readers Workshop lessons and strategies. They are perfect to use in the classroom and for students to take home to share with their families! We used them in class for the first time this week and students were so much more engaged in the lessons.
****GROWING BUNDLE**** I will be adding more to this as I create them. There are four different lessons now but there will be a total of 10 Fiction Readers Workshop lessons. |

Guided Reading Strategy Cards
I am super excited to use these reading strategy cards after my guided reading groups this year!
I know every time I end a guided reading lesson I give students something to work on as they read independently. As students go on about their busy day they often forget the strategy that we worked on during guided reading groups. The strategy card is the perfect little reminder for them to keep on their desk or in their book bin as they read.
Parents always inquire about different ways they can help their child read at home. This is the perfect way to include families with what you are working on in the classroom and it gives them a tool to assist their children with as they read. At the end of the day, students will get to take the strategy card home to share with their family & continue to practice. Throughout the year they will collect different reading strategies to keep at home on their strategy ring.

Back to School Ice Breaker Activity
This is a perfect activity for grades K-2. Students will use their addition skills and number sense to find their partner in the room. Then they read their cards to see what special fact about themselves they get to share!
A great way to get kids moving and talking. It is important to build a sense of classroom community within the first few weeks of school in order for the classroom to continue to run smoothly throughout the year. This activity is an easy ((NO PREP)) way to do that!! 😊
